Obituary

Bennie D. Anderson was born in Marietta, Texas on November 24, 1942 to the parentage of the late George W. and Lola B. Anderson. At an early age he united with the Floyd Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Marietta, Texas. He later united with the Spring Hill Baptist Church, Douglassville, Texas were he served as a deacon. Due to the closing of Spring Hill Baptist Church, he returned to Floyd Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Bennie graduated from Panhandle High School, Douglassville, Texas in 1960. He was a star athlete in basketball, baseball, and track & field. He was a member of the team that won the state championship in basketball in 1957. Bennie was employed at Day & Zimmerman. He also was later employed with General Motors Assembly Plant, Shreveport, LA and retired after working for 40 years. He enjoyed being outside, gardening, and looking at his flowers.

Bennie was united in Holy Matrimony to Pleatis Boyce for 57 years. To this union one daughter was born: Nicole Anderson Day.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Lola B. Anderson; four brothers, George Anderson Jr, Uzziah Anderson, Author Anderson and Bruce Anderson; four sisters, Olevia Mack, Odessa Spence, Alylene Haynes, and Winnie Anderson-Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Pleatis Anderson; daughter Nicole Day (Philip) of Ovilla, Texas; three grandchildren Josh, Justin, and Alexis Day; one great-grandchild Ariyah Day; three sister-in-laws Lena Anderson of Cedar Hill, Tx, Gwendolyn Anderson of Marietta, Texas, Ruby James of Tyler, Texas; four brother-in-laws Joe Boyce (Brenda) of Dallas, Texas, Charles Boyce Sr. (Vital) of Desoto, Texas, Donnye Boyce (Shirley) of Longview, Texas; nephew/ brother-in-law Ronnie Boyce (Emily) of Dallas, Texas; one uncle, Homer Anderson of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
