Mother Brown was born on May 1,1939 to parents Robrt and Rebecca Hardiman in Redwater, Texas.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age under the leadership of Rev. C. L.
Garrett of Marshall, Texas at the Friendship Baptist Church of Redwater, TX. She relocated to Odessa, TX
where she met and married Deacon J. E. Brown. They later moved to Sherman, Texas. She was faithful
member of a church in Sherman and continued to dutifully serve the Lord, wherever she lived.
She enjoyed singing old 100s, talking about and to the Lord, working puzzles, fishing, playing Bingo, and
reading. She was an encouraged young people to know the Lord and to continue their education. She
prided herself in the fact that her three children all were able to attend Prairie View A&M College in
Prairie View, TX. She was lovingly known to her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Dean." She loved children
and was a free-hearted and often, gave then gifts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rebecca Hardiman, Husband J. E. Brown, sisters
Ladonia Graham, Sophronia Page and Mary Alice Page and brothers, Robert Hardiman, Rev. Alvester
Hardiman, Sr. and Rev. Joseph Hardiman, Sr. Those left to cherish her memory are her special niece
Verna Mae Sanders and Ruth Stokes of Redwater TX, daughter, Sherry (Thomas) Walker, of Perland, TX,
son, Edgar (Yvonne) Brown, of Redwater, TX, and daughter, Karen (Edward) Hart, of DeSoto, TX.
along with a host of nieces and nephews who were also dear to her heart.
Funeral service will be at Friendship Baptist Church in Redwater Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
