It is with a heavy heart that we lay to rest our most beloved mother, Mrs. Bettie Louise Burks Kendrick. Born to the union of Tom and Alice Hamilton Burks on May 2, 1936, in Texarkana, Texas. She departed her earthly body and gained her heavenly wings at home on August 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded by: her parents, her beloved husband Vernon Kendrick, her daughters Donna Stewart and Beverly Stuckey, and her son Rocky Kendrick


For over two decades, she worked as a nurse at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Arkansas. Her compassionate care and dedication to her patients were a true testament to her character. Day after day, she extended a helping hand to those in need, embodying the spirit of service and empathy.


She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters: Sharon Stewart and Kristi Kendrick of Texarkana, TX; Mary (Donald) Castleberry of Pflugerville, TX; sons: Raymond Kendrick, Bobbie Kendrick, and Jeffery Kendrick of Texarkana, TX; Tommie (Veronica) Kendrick of Wichita Falls, TX; and Michael (Terri) Dennis of Corpus Christi, TX. Daughter-in-law: Debbie Kendrick of Clarksville, TN, Son-in-law: Glenn Stuckey of Texarkana, AR; sister: Margaret Maxwell of Los Angeles; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends


Visitation for Madea will be Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at Haynes Mortuary. Funeral will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church. Online registration is available at www.haynesmortuary.com
