Charles Edward Greer Sr. age 80 of Texarkana, Texas passed away March 14, 2022 at his home. He was born to the late Tressie Greer and John Greer on June 11, 1941 in Mckamie, Arkansas. As a child he lived in the Grandview community where he became a vibrant part of the fabric of the community. He met and married the love of his life Patricia Jean Johnson, a beautiful union that lasted for 61 years. Together they made a beautiful life and to this union three beautiful girls and three strong bravehearted young men were born. Charles was a man of prayer and faith. He was a member of Christ Nations Church under the leadership of Pastors Isaac and Iran Pitre. Charles worked for the Liberty Eylau Independent School District where he loved serving the teachers, students, and community. He retired in 2007. He spent the remainder of his days serving the wonderful elderly members of his community and loving his family.
Preceding him in death: his father, John Greer, his mother, Tressie Greer Markcreay; brothers, Garfield Greer, William Greer, A.W. Greer and Charlie Markcreay.
Left to cherish his memories and ongoing legacy is his lovely wife of 61 years Patricia Greer; beautiful daughters, Janet Chambers (Willie )( Houston, Tx) ; Sonya Vaughn (Stasik) (Texarkana) and Tina Michelle Greer (Texarkana) ; some very brave sons, Charles Edward Greer Jr. (Linda) (Shreveport, La) , William Greer (Angeletta) (Texarkana) , Reginald Austin ( New Boston, Tx. ), Timothy Greer (Beverly) ( Colony, Tx ) Eric Greer (Dallas, Tx ) and Cedric Carson ( Desoto,Tx ) along with a host of nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. His Special/Spiritual Daughters and Sons : Victoria Hunter, Diane Hunt, Lora Evans, Eric Williamson, Vanessa Nelson, Carnetta and Carl Hawkins; Robbie and Perry Moore; Melanie and Andre Moore.
Charles was the grandfather of 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. He had a host of nephews and nieces and he loved each of them in a very unique way.
Services will be Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Christ Nations Church in Texarkana, Texas with Pastor Iran Pitre, officiating. Interment will follow at Chapelwood Cemetery in Texarkana, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 18, 2022 at Haynes Mortuary 7238 West 7th Street Texarkana, Texas.
