Corine Blake Baker born, April 27,1925 In Bodcaw, Ar. to the Late Matthew and Nobie Blake.
She was joined in matrimony to George Baker, Jr. in 1942, to this union eight children were born. In her early years, she was member of Sunset Baptist Church. At the age of 77, she became one of Jehovah Witnesses throughout her life. She retired from Wadley Regional Medical Center and dedicated her time to teaching people about Jehovah God. She was affectionately known in her congregation as "Mama Baker", but to her grandkids as "Big Mama". She was very kind, patient, loving, mild-tempered and soft-spoken person who is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was known for her great cooking, which she generously shared with others. For example, her chicken and dressing, blueberry cobbler, sweet potato, chocolate, raisin pies, biscuits and gravy, and tea cakes. One of her greatest joys after raising eight children was the time spent with her family, friends, and fishing.
Corine Baker departed this life on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021, after a brief illness at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Tx. at the age of 95.
Memories of her are cherished by her loving children: four daughters: Mary Wicks, Jean Walthall, Debra Phillips, and Patricia Mills, all of Texarkana, Tx. three sons: Clarence Ray Baker, James M. Baker of Corpus Christi, Tx. and Plenord Bernard(Liz) Baker of Texarkana, Tx; three sisters: Lydia Smiley of Camden, Ar. Osie Gulley, Mattie Palms both of Dallas, Tx. one brother: Ervin Jake Blake of Rolston, Ar. 32 grandchildren, along with a host of great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was proceed in death by her parents Matthew and Nobie Blake, her husband, George Baker, Jr. four brothers: Johnny Williams, Dinzer Lee, and Douglas Blake; two sisters: Lula Blake and Mary Nell Newman; one son: Perry Glen Baker; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Scripture: Job 14:15, "You will call and I will answer. You will long for the work of you hands."
