Obituary

On August 30, 1948, the universe shifted and brought forth in the personage of DeLois Jean Thornton to the household of Shedereck and Dorothy Thornton in Fulton, Arkansas. Ms. DeLois was a graduate of Dunbar High School in 1966, afterwards she attended Prairie View A&M University and graduated in 1972.

DeLois joined the United States Army in 1979 and served for twelve years where she proudly served her country and received an honorably discharge in 1992. While in service she received many awards including National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, and a Marksmanship Badge.

Accepting Christ as her Lord and personal Savior brought about a change in DeLois' life. She was a member of Rose Hill COGIC until she joined Nash Full Gospel Holy Temple in 2002. While attending Rose Hill, she served as president of the Usher Board and a Sunday School teacher. Once she united with Nash Full Gospel, she served faithfully in the Women's Choir, Mother's Board Choir, Usher Board, president of the Nurse's Guild, and was involved in many other roles in the church until God called her home. She loved traveling with her church family! DeLois was also a student of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and studied with them for five years.

DeLois was known to be soft spoken and touched many lives. She never met a stranger and had a unique personality.
