Dennis Ray Jones went to be with his Heavenly Maker and Master on Wednesday, July 13th. He was born to the parentage of Mr. Curtis Jones and Mrs. Lois White Jones in Texarkana, TX on May 15, 1955,
Mr. Jones lived in the Sunset community and attended Sunset Elementary School. For his formal education he attended Dunbar Junior High School, and then attended and graduated Texas High School with the class of 1973. He played Junior Varsity football, but his main hobbies were hunting, fishing, cooking, barbecuing and entertaining his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV ... his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.
Dennis's working life was very diverse in that he worked in many different trades and jobs, He worked for the local Coca Cola plant as a truck driver/distributor; in the justice system as a Correctional Officer at the Rosharon Unit near Houston, TX; the Telford Unit in New Boston, TX and the local Bi-State Jail. He trained and received his commercial license to drive 18 wheelers for a short time. He was a part-time employee at Richardson Funeral Home, an employee at Tyson Chicken, Walmart, a journeyman pipefitter in Odessa, Tx and Dallas, TX. Last but not least he worked in security for FEMA in Hope, AR and at the Lone Star Ordinance plant in Hooks, TX.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his mother Lois A. Lee. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory: his father - Curtis Jones; two sons - Tewaun Jones and Dennis Jones, Jr.; one daughter - LaQuiesa Hill; his brother - Dwayne White (Bobbie) five grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, classmates and friends.
Funeral services under the direction of Haynes Mortuary will be Friday, July 22nd at the Hopewell CME Temple at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Morturary.
