Obituary

Mother Dorothy Louise (McFadden) Thornton was born on April 19, 1927, to Laura and William McFadden on April 19, 1927. She was the second child of thirteen children and as a young child she learned the importance of hard work. She met her husband, Shredreck Thornton, in Fulton, Arkansas, and they were married on July 6, 1946 until his death in 2004. They later moved to Texarkana, Texas in 1947. To their union were born six children.

Mother Thornton made a vow to the Lord in 1951, and never took it back! She joined the Rose Hill Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Lyons. She was a faithful member of Rose Hill until her health failed. She worked in the health care field at St. Michaels Hospital until her retirement in 1989.

Mother Thornton was kind, loving, and generous. She loved the Lord and was a fervent prayer warrior. She loved and cherished her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shredreck Thornton, son, Howard  Thornton Sr;  daughter, DeLois Thornton; four sisters, Reatha Harris Thomas, Ruth Watkins, Mary Ellen Nash, Earnestine Nash Holmes; four brothers, Leon McFadden, Clyde McFadden, Augustus McFadden, James N. Nash; mother, Laura Cochran Nash;  and father, William McFadden.

She leaves to mourn her passing; three daughters, Clydia Luckey (Texarkana), Anna Roberson (Stockton, CA), Shirley Thornton (Texarkana) and son, Broderick Thornton (Texarkana); three sisters, Hannah Jean Moore (Nebraska), Althea Lee (North Carolina), Mary Alice Curtis (E. St Louis); two brothers, Joe Nash (Omaha, Nebraska) James Nash (Omaha Nebraska), and Robert McFadden (Arizona). She also leaves beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
