Edward Paul Dorsey was born July 16, 1959 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He was the only son born to the late Dorothy N. Lewis and John Paul Dorsey.
Edward held a bachelor's degree from Chico State University. At one point, he was a college professor for Heald College in Hayward, California. He ultimately became an elementary and middle school teacher until he became ill.
Edward's light shined bright wherever he traveled during his lifetime. He was able to make you laugh, give you big hugs, and would dance his way into your heart. He was an educated man that truly believed that "knowledge is power." He loved all kids from the streets to the classroom! Whether it was coaching after school or at the community center...he was teaching!
Edward departed this earthly life on June 18, 2023. He has left to cherish lasting memories: sister, Marilyn D. Gurley (Fred G Gurley Jr.-deceased); seven nieces, Shilah A. Lewis, LaLonnie N. Travenia, NaTina R. Gurley, Shari D. Hardin (Donnie), Karla M. Gurley, Alexandria E. Gurley, and Katherine A. Johnson (Timothy Sr.); four great-nephews, Elijah Gurley, Darrin Hardin, Hosea S. McNiel, and Timothy L. Johnson; three great-nieces, Taylor Hardin, Ashley Hardin, and Keilene Thompson. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and students.
