Ellsworth "Gandi" Fisher was born to the late London Fisher and Linnie McFadden Fisher of Nash, Texas. Ellsworth received his formal education and was an honor graduate of Macedonia High School. He received his Christian Education when he united at an early age with the Macedonia Baptist Church. Brother Fisher was a committed member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a faithful member of the church choir, Men's Chorus, and the Brotherhood Ministry. He was also a member of the Kitchen Ministry, where he could be found serving beverages and desserts with a smile. He attended services and church activities until his health prevented him from doing so.

Ellsworth had a desire to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. His military career spanned 20 years where he gained training as a military medic caring for sick and injured servicemen. His military career carried him to many duty stations in the United States, but also to various countries in Europe and Asia to include Turkey, Greenland, and the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland. Ellsworth also served a tour of duty in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam Conflict. Following his retirement from the military, he was employed as an Equipment Operator at Red River Army Depot for 20 years where he received several commendations.

Ellsworth was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Bland Fisher, his sisters Vera Fisher Campbell, Jamie Fisher Smith and Gurtha Fisher Bursey as well as his brothers, Leonard, Ray and Joe Fisher.

Those left to cherish his memory are his Bland family, his nephews: Hughey (Mickey) Bursey Jr., Michael Bursey who was his caregiver, Von Bursey, Van Bursey, and Cedric Campbell along with his nieces: Annie M. Haley, Marva J. Harper, Jamie Renee Campbell and Diane Arnold. Ellsworth never met a stranger and will be fondly remembered by a host of friends and acquaintances that he made over the years.

Memorial service will be Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Haynes Memorial Chapel.
