Freddie Gene Cox was born January 9, 1945 in Kiblah, Arkansas to the parentage of Juanita Mothershed and Thaddo Cox. The family later relocated to Texarkana, Texas where he was baptized and became a member of the Sunset Baptist Church.
Freddie's formal education began at the Sunset School and continued at the Dunbar High School where he graduated in 1963. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for three years. He was also a Mason.
Freddie was employed with Southwestern Transportation for 17 years. He later became an over-the-road driver for CFI and ABF. After retirement, he became owner/operator of Freddie's Auto Repair Shop.
On Saturday, November 2 nd , Freddie transitioned from time to eternity. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Birch.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife of 52 years, Mary Cox; daughters, Carolyn (Greg) Givans and Tamara Conkelton; grandsons, Tim Yarbrough, Ja'Vontae Givans, Sy'Rone and Ja'Kari Conkelton; granddaughters, De'Nerica Yarbrough, Taylor Givans, Alexus, Lazabia, Desteni and Tryneti Conkelton.
