George Robert Lowe, Sr. passed away on November 14, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was 76 years old.

Born March 18, 1948, to George Andy and Robert Alexsine Lowe, George lived his young life in Palestine, Texas, and Hooks, Texas. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School (Burns/Redbank Community) in Hooks, Texas.

George studied Journalism at East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas, prior to his 1967 enlistment in the United States Navy. Following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps of serving in the military within a Special Forces capacity, he served four valiant years as a Navy Seal during the Vietnam War.

After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he pursued his civilian career in law enforcement. George's law enforcement career spanned multiple roles from working as a Deputy Sheriff in Wyoming to a Correctional Officer in Georgia.

George married Emma Mae "Jean" Hooks in 1967 and went on to have two sons, Cedric Eugene Lowe and George Robert (Chookie) Lowe, Jr. In 1990 George adopted a daughter, Shannon Andya Lowe.

Around 2011, George retired and spent his time enjoying Nascar races, attending musical plays and concerts, and in his words "doing absolutely nothing".

George was predeceased by his mother and father, George Andy and Robert Alexsine Lowe; wife, Emma Mae "Jean" Lowe; and Son, George Robert (Chookie) Lowe, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Andya Lowe; son, Cedric Eugene Lowe; and dog Beau Lowe.

He will be remembered by his loved ones for all his wisdom and his nonchalant demeanor. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it.

Services will be held at Leary Chapel Baptist Church, 354 Barkman Creek Road, Hooks, Texas 75561 on November 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM.
