Gloria D. Banks Harris was born to the late Roosevelt and Mary Anderson on July 7, 1930 in Garland, AR. She was the 6th of 16 children. She received her education in the Garland, AR school system. Gloria and her family moved from Garland to Mandeville, AR. She later moved to Texarkana, AR then to Texarkana, TX where she resided until her death.

Gloria met and married Percy Banks and after many years of marriage, God called him home. She was then later united in marriage to Harding Harris until his death.

Gloria accepted Christ at an early age. She had a passion for church and studying and reading God's word. She was a faithful member of New Town Baptist Church until her health began to decline.

Gloria had a strong passion for helping others. She was employed with Wadley Hospital for 33 years where she earned many titles and positions during her tenure. Her favorite pastimes were sewing, cooking and gardening.

Gloria transitioned this earthly life Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Rev. RA Anderson, TJ Anderson, AJ Anderson, Supt. Robert Anderson and Rogers Anderson; sisters, Rebecca Beed, Easter Abbit, Lugertha Leeks, Ruth Dove and Mamie Norton.

Gloria was loved by both family and friends. She will be greatly missed by al that she came in contact with.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her faithful and loving son, Minister James E. Anderson; grandsons, Lamar Richardson of Longview, TX and Brian (Tiffany) Anderson of Irving, TX; granddaughters, Carla (Kenneth) Harmon of Columbus, GA, Ebony Harris and Jamie Harris of Chattanooga, TN; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. James F. (Susie) Anderson of Houston, TX, Rev. Herman (Myrtis) Anderson of Mandeville, AR and Thomas Anderson of Montgomery, AL; sisters, Mary Arceneaux of Baytown, TX and Hattie (Robert) Stone of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
