Gloria Henderson, 92 of Texarkana, Texas died on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Gloria Dean Henderson was born to the late John J. and Autura Smith Garrison in Texarkana, Texas. Gloria was a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, was a member of the Missionary Society and served on the Usher Board. She was always willing to serve wherever she was asked or saw a need that she could fill. She remained steadfast in her attendance at Sunday services and other church related activities until her health prevented her from physically attending. She then enjoyed church services virtually and continued to support the church and its activities financially with her tithes and offerings.

Gloria was a graduate of Macedonia High School and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She also excelled athletically and was a star player on the girls' basketball team. She was a passionate fan of both the NBA and WNBA and could quote players and stats with the best of them. One of her greatest thrills was having courtside seats as her favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs played the Memphis Grizzlies.

Gloria earned a nursing degree from Texarkana College and upon graduation was employed as a registered nurse at Wadley Regional Medical Center. She held several supervisory positions and later was promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing, a position she held until her retirement. She was known for her kind and compassionate care of her patients and their families.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Howard L. Garrison; her daughter, Kathi Compton Mowrer and her beloved grandson, Colin "Scootie" Compton.

Those who will cherish her memory are Henry C. Henderson, her son, Charles "Boo" Henderson (Phyllis); her daughter Lois Williams; her sister Delores Woods; her son-in-law Charles Mowrer; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church - 158 Payton Road - Texarkana, TX
