Gloyd "Charlie" Harris was born in Atlanta, Texas at Brooks Hospital on December 19, 1967 He was the 10th of eleven children and youngest of eight sons born to the late Nelson and Laura Harris of Doddridge, Arkansas who preceded him in death. Charlie accepted Christ at an early age and was a continuous member since baptism at Elizabeth Baptist Church in the Caney Community of Doddridge, Arkansas. He attended and graduated from Bright Star High School in 1986. He continued his studies briefly at an Automotive Technical College in Michigan before returning home to Caney and assisted his father with the daily operations of the family sawmill until his father's death in 2002, He was employed with Crossfire in Carthage, Texas for the past nine years.
He leaves behind his oldest son, Anthony Harris (Shanice) of Texarkana, Texas and his mother Donna Thompson. His middle son, Joshua Burleson (Kendra Ponton) of Tyler, Texas and his mother Winneolia Burleson. His youngest son and daughter, Gloyd Harris, Jr (Jameshia Cooper) and Breauna Harris (Ralph Crabtree) both of Texarkana, Texas and their mother Christina Derleth. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Isaiah Harris, Joshua Burleson, Jr., Anthony Harris Jr, Rylee Harris,J'siah Burleson, Caden Harris, and Gianni Crabtree. His brothers: Troy Holmes (Maggie) of Vivian, Louisiana who preceded him in death, Rayfield Harris (Tammy) of Domino, Texas; Hollis Harris (Candy) of Bloomburg, Texas, Hernice Harris (Martha) of Texarkana, Texas, Floyd Harris (Linda) of Fort Worth, Texas; Ramond Harris (Christy) of Caney Community in Doddridge, Arkansas and Namon Harris of Texarkana, Texas. His sisters: Valarie Johnson of Houston, Texas, Connie Young (Taft) of Texarkana, Texas and Carol Sue Harris of Texarkana, Texas as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
