In Loving Celebration of Mrs. Ida L. Smith (11-05-1920 to 6-27-2025)

Born on November 5, 1920, in Maud, Texas, Mrs. Ida L. Smith lived a life filled with deep faith, grace, and resilience. The eldest of five children born to Mamie Green and Lamar Wright, she served as a cherished cornerstone of her family and community for over a century. Her journey took her from Eldorado, Arkansas to Shreveport, Louisiana, where she married the late George D. Smith.
Ida was the proud mother of two sons, Billy Paul Smith, a retired Chemist, and Kenneth Wayne Smith, a retired Professor. As the beloved matriarch of a large and devoted family, she passed on wisdom, Christian values, and love to generations. She retired in 1982 after 27 years of service as an Inspector at the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Texarkana. Known for her home-cooked meals and famously delicious rolls, she shared her love through her cooking and hospitality.
A former faithful member of Union Hill Baptist Church and a current member of Mt. Orange Baptist Church for a total of over seventy years in her beloved churches. She remained grateful to God for her journeys and held a special place in her heart for her church families and community.


She was preceded in death by her parents: Mamie Green and Lamar Wright; siblings: Louise Ivey, Clarence Rodgers, Floyd Rodgers, and Raymond Harrison, whose memories she always held dear.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law: Jacquelyn Smith (Billy) and Ruth Smith (Kenneth); her grandchildren: Natalie Freeman (BJ), LaKendre'a Moore (Micah), Gregory Smith, and Brian Smith; her great-grandchildren: Josiah Freeman, Micaylon Moore, Mikyah Moore, Miles Smith and Violet Smith; her devoted nieces: Yolonda Watkins (Tyson), Jacqueline Tryon (James), Felicia Rodgers, Regina Rodgers and Karen Martinez (Santos); her devoted nephews: Douglas Harrison, Leonard Harrison (Octavia), and Kevin Rogers (Sheila); and a host of great nieces and nephews.
