Mr. J.D. Hooks, Jr., 68 of Hooks, TX, was born October 10, 1952 in New Boston, TX to the parentage of J.D. Hooks, Sr. and Virgie Carter. He departed this earthly life on Monday, March 1, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Hooks accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at the Prosperity Baptist Church. He later joined Leary Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and enjoyed singing. He also served in the United States Army for two years and was an employee of Red River Army Depot before retiring after 33 years. Mr. Hooks leaves to cherish lasting memories: his wife, Dorothy Huey Hooks of Hooks, TX; two daughters, Angela Cook (Jarvis) of Ashdown, AR and Katrina Hooks Winters (Ronald) of Hooks, TX; two sons, Rodney Sumler and Marcus Williams (Kim) of Texarkana, TX; one sister, Georgia Thompson of New Boston, TX; three brothers, Booker T. Hooks, Sr. (Vera), Utissue Hooks (Janice) and Johnny Hooks all of New Boston, TX; twelve grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
