The Woman of God's Legacy

The Reverend Jettie Kaydenza Williams

A Time to be Born (Ecclesiastes 3:2a)
Jettie Kaydenza Williams was born July 12, 1942, in Dierks, Arkansas to the late Wesley
and Jettie Mae Wiseman.

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge. (Act 9: 36a)
Jettie Kay began her early educational years in Dierks, AR. The family moved to
Ashdown, AR where she graduated from Little River Training School, Class of 1960. She
is a graduate of Texarkana Community College where she became a Licensed Vocational
Nurse. She also later received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Texas A & M
College in Texarkana, Texas.

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Dorcas; this woman was full of good
works and almsdeeds which she did. (Acts 9:36b)
Jettie Kay moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after graduation where she met the late
Kenneth R. Dobbins and the two became one. To that union five children were born:
Becky, Kenice, Patrice, Kaydenzia and Kenneth Jr. After the death of her husband,
Kenneth, due to a car accident, Jettie's love for God and His Word was reflected in her
nurturing of her children. Therefore, teaching them to have moral values, love and
respect for God and others (2 Timothy 2:15). She was very proud of her children and
loved being a mother.

For many are called, but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:14)
At an early age Jettie Kay confessed hope in Christ in Dierks, AR. When the family moved
to Ashdown, she joined the Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she
served in many capacities from her youth to adulthood. Jettie Kay united with Craig
Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. O. W.
Walker, where she preached her first sermon and was ordained an Itinerant Deacon
Elder by The Right Reverend Frederick H. Talbot, Presiding Bishop. Reverend Jettie's
pastoral charges and accomplishments are Bethel A.M.E. of Mineral Springs, AR, Shorter
Chapel A.M.E. of Belvins, AR, and the Willisville Circuit (Shady Grove A.M.E. and St.
Peters A.M.E.). Rev. Jettie also chaired the Health Commission for the conference and
she was very active in Women In Ministry. In November 2007, she became
superannuated due to her health, under the leadership of the late The Right Reverend
Richard A. Chappelle, Presiding Bishop.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to
the flesh, but by love serve one another. (Galatians 5:13)
Rev. Jettie was employed as a nurse working in hospitals and nursing homes for over 30
years. She was the owner and director of Apple Jack Daycare. She was also an activist.
Rev. Jettie was the first black woman to run for office in the city (i.e. Councilman). She
volunteered for Junior Achievement and VISTA where she taught adults to read. She
was a member of the NAACP, Concerning Citizen, Ashdown Grandparents Group, and
Ruth Chapter #3 Order of Eastern Stars for over 40 years. Rev. Jettie was also a voter
registrar, public notary, and active in the Prison Ministry (Share Time) Winning Souls to
Christ. On top of that, she was a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Past President of EHC,
Past Chairman of L.R.C.T.S, Past Chairman of Rhode Cemetery, and a Relay for Life
Survivor.

Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)
Those who have passed pre-transition Rev. Jettie are her parents; Wesley and Jettie
Mae Wiseman, husbands; Kenneth Dobbins Sr. and Rev. Arnold Williams, sisters;
Virginia Watts, Mary O'Guinn, Margaret Garfield, brothers; Edward Wiseman, Robert
Wiseman and Henry Wiseman.

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise
Him again- my Savior and God! (Psalm 42:11)
