Obituary

John Wayne Riley, Jr transitioned into eternal life on September 19, 2020, at his home in Old Boston, TX.  He was born on March 13, 1967, to Carolyn and John W. Riley, Sr.

John Wayne attended New Boston High School (Class of 1985).  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged after serving over 20 years.  He later attended Columbia University in Fort Worth, TX.  He was employed by Wedgewood Middle School as an ROTC Instructor and a Basketball Coach in Fort Worth, TX.  After working for the school district, he started his own business, JAC'S B (John and Carolyn's Boy) Moving Company and Twin City Daiquiri in Texarkana, TX, until his health failed.

John Wayne accepted Christ at an early age.  He was an active member of St. Joseph Baptist Church in Old Boston, TX, were he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Trustee.

He was a Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers fan.  He enjoyed playing dominos with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: LC (Papa) and Virgie Mae Riley; maternal grandparents: RC and Rosie Lee Blackwell; great-niece Lydia Denise Riley.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents Carolyn and John W. Riley, Sr. of Old Boston, TX; daughter Whitney Riley of Texarkana, TX; special son Linwood Tatum of Fort Worth, TX; sister Jacqueline Riley of New Boston, TX; brothers Tyrone Riley of  Dallas, TX, Anthony Riley of Decatur, Ga, and Torrey (Candance) Riley of Denton, TX.

Aunts: Pearlie Mae Riley-Smith, Luean Riley-Hurd, and Betty Kaye Riley-Scales of New Boston, TX; Linda (Dennis) Lee of Cleburne, TX, and Marilyn Blackwell of Texarkana, TX. Uncles: Billy (Sandra) Riley of New Boston, TX; William Blackwell, Sr, and Larry Blackwell of Texarkana, TX; Louis (Emma) Blackwell, Curtis (Brenda) Blackwell, and Calvin (Sighle) Blackwell of Texarkana, AR.

Nephews: Anthony (Angelica) Riley, Jr of Norfolk, VA, Jashun Riley of New Boston, TX, and Terrance Riley of Denton, TX.  Nieces: Monique Vincent of Decatur, Ga, Jaleesa Riley of New Boston, TX, and Jasmine Riley of Denton, TX.

Great-nephew: Kendall Riley.  Great-nieces: Jayleigh (Rooster Buster) and Khloe (Chicken Little) Riley of New Boston, TX.

God Children: Alexis Coleman and Zachery Shepard.

Special Friends: Terrance & Kathy Payton, Jerry Bearden, Larry Menendez, Jr, and Ronnie Scuddle.

Special Friend and Care Taker: Heather Hurd

He loved his family and friends especially his nephews and nieces.
