John W Riley, Sr., transitioned into eternal life on February 9, 2021, at St. Michaels Hospital.  He was born October 30, 1946, to the late L.C. And Virgie Mae Riley.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Pearl Benton and Barbara Ann McCain; three brothers, Junior C Riley, Marvin C Riley, and Albert D. Riley, Sr.; one son, John Wayne Riley, Jr.; one great-granddaughter Lydia Riley.

John W Riley, Sr., accepted Christ at an early age.  He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Baptist Church in Old Boston, TX, where he was an active Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee, and Adult Sunday School Teacher.  He loved the word but most of all he loved the Lord.  His favorite scripture was Matthew 5:3-11.

John W Riley, Sr., graduated from New Boston Central High School in 1964.  He enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967.  He received an Honorable Discharge from active duty and served as a Weapons Instructor for the US Army Reserve for 29 years.  He attended Texarkana College.  He was employed at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co where he retired in 1997 after 27 great years.  John W Riley, Sr., coached Little League Football where he fulfilled his dream of becoming "Coach Riley."  He had a passion for sports.  If you knew him you knew his favorite teams were Dallas Cowboys and LA Lakers.  He enjoyed playing dominos, watching sports, and spending time with family.  He loved his family!

Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Riley; daughter, Jacqueline Riley of New Boston, TX; three sons, Tyrone Riley of Ft. Worth, TX, Anthony Riley of Atlanta, GA, and Torrey Riley (Candance) of Denton, TX; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.  Four siblings, Pearlie Mae Smith, Lou Ann Hurd, Betty Kaye Scales, and Billy D. Riley, Sr. (Sandra) all of New Boston, TX; sister-in-law Ruby Hollowell-Riley; one aunt Leola Smith.

Two daughters/nieces, Terri Riley-Hall (Michael) and Carolyn Riley of Ft. Worth, TX; three sons/nephews, Albert Riley, Jr, of Ft. Worth, TX, Kelly Scales of New Boston, TX, and DeWon Bead of Texarkana, AR; two bonus daughters, Regina Morgan of Texarkana, TX, and Heather Hurd of New Boston, TX; one bonus son, Andre Scoggins of Hooks, TX; two godchildren, Shamekia and Antonio Smith of Texarkana, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
