Obituary

Laverne Cornelius Clark, 75 died on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Today we celebrate the life of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cherished member of the Texarkana community, Wamba community, Central Texarkana, Kennesaw community and Great Faith Cathedral COGIC.

LaVerne was born August 7, 1950 in Texarkana, Texas to Willie Bell and Wesley Cornelius. She was a woman of grace, strength and unwavering dedication to her family.

She was a proud member of the Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School class of 1968. She attended Texarkana College, became a nurse and laid a foundation for a life committed to service and excellence. She started her nursing career at Medical Lodge Nursing Home, worked at several senior nursing care facilities in Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas later retiring from Wadley Regional Medical Center. Throughout her career, she touched many lives with her compassionate care, gentle spirit and professionalism.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first born - Kimberly Smith, her baby - Michael Clark, Jr. her aunt - Cora Walker "Missy", uncle - O.D. Hayes and her former husband - Michael Clark, Sr.

She leaves behind a legacy of LOVE that will forever live in the hearts of her family - two loving and devoted daughters: Eureka Cornelius and Ashlei Cornelius of Kennesaw, GA; two cherished and loving grandsons: Malik Cornelius and JaQuan Lewis of Kennesaw, GA; three special and loving granddaughters: Alexis Maxwell, Peyton Maxwell and Jameliah Lewis of Kennesaw, GA; two very dear great-grandchildren: Alani Cornelius and Kingston Lundy of Kennesaw, GA  as well as several special nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation - Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.

Funeral service - Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Mt. Orange Baptist Church - 2510 W 10th Street - Texarkana, Texas 75501
