Leon Reamon Kelly quietly entered eternal life on the evening of March 31, 2024 at The Villa Nursing Facility in Texarkana, Texas at the age of 72. Leon was born January 14, 1952 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Leon and Willie Mae Kelly.
Leon grew up in the Rose Hill Community of Texarkana where he was affectionately called "Laddie" by his neighbors and friends. Laddie looked forward to the fun times in the summer when his family from California, especially Jo and Jerri, would come to visit.
Leon attended Theron Jones Elementary School, Dunbar High School, and graduated from Texas Senior High School in 1970. He furthered his education at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where he pledged Groove Phi Groove social fellowship. He later joined the United States Navy and was employed with Lone Star Ammunition Plant.
Leon was a friendly and quiet guy that always showed respect to others. He loved reading and could often be found at the Texarkana Public Library reading the different newspapers. He kept abreast of what was going on in his city and around the world.
He leaves to cherish his memories: stepmother, Ethel Kelly of Texarkana, TX; daughter, India Walker of Texarkana, TX; two grandsons, Kemarion Strickland and Keelan Walker of Texarkana, TX; half-sister, Betty Wells Covington of Hooks, TX; bonus sisters, Joleavette Davis, Jerri Davis, and Donna Washington of California; bonus brother, Rodney Davis of California; uncle, Charles Edward Walton of Oregon; aunts, Marjorie Kelly of Texarkana, Texas and Naomi Floyd of Kansas; niece, Bettina Green; nephew, David Cook; and a host of other relatives and friends.
