Lue Ann Hurd, 1 of 10 children, was born November 23, 1948 to the late L.C. and Virgie Mae Riley. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Laura P. Benton and Barbara A. McCain; four brothers, Junior C. Riley, Marvin C. Riley, Albert D. Riley, Sr. and John W. Riley, Sr.; and two nephews, Ronnie L. Smith and John W. Riley, Jr.
Lue attended Central High School in New Boston, TX. She was united in marriage to the late Harold Hurd. Lue initially worked at Lone Star Army Ammunitions but later developed an interest in nursing. She began working at New Boston Nursing Center as a nursing assistant and carried those skills to other nursing facilities. Lue enrolled in Paris Junior College where she received her certification as a Medication Aide which allowed her to work as a Medication Aide at the Barry Telford Unit in New Boston, TX. While at Telford, she changed positions to become a security officer. She was a dedicated and hard worker until her health declined.
Lue accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church for most of her life. She was an active member until her health began to decline and was Choir President and a member off the Mission Board.
Lue departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Gerald Hurd (JoAnna); three grandchildren, Darious King, Erika King and Trevor Hurd; two great-grands, Liberty King and Aubrey King; two sisters, Pearlie M. Smith and Betty K. Scales; one brother, Billy D. Riley, Sr. (Sandra); one aunt, Leola Smith; best friends, Jerylan Lomax, Carolyn Riley, Dorothy Scales, Sandra Smith and Ruby Riley; godchildren, Kenneth Wilson, Jr., Brandi Wilson and Keshad Wilson; two niece/daughters, LaNita Wilson and Monica Shepard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
