Marian Jackie Haynie was born March 5, 1943 in Prescott, AR to Wade and Allie Mae Mendenhall. She grew up in Rosston, AR. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She joined the choir and would give speeches for various annual programs.

Her education began in the Oak Grove ISD. After graduating from high school, she went to Arkansas AM&N now known as UAPB. She received her BS in Home Economics and would receive a MS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas. She taught Home Economics for a few years before becoming the Director for the Head Start Program in Texarkana, AR a program that serviced preschool children. She served in this position for Thirty-one years. During her tenure she traveled  extensively and had the privilege to speak before Governors, Representatives and other elected officials.

She joined Macedonia Baptist Church and quickly grew fond of the Sunday school ministry. She had a fervent love of reading and discussing the Bible. She attended Mission and bible study when she was able.

She departed this earthly life Monday, July 13, 2020. Her   memories will be cherished by her only child and dear son-in-law Lisa and Darren Godfrey, two brothers, Artis (Carol)Mendenhall of Pine Bluff, AR and Edwin Mendenhall of Coppell, TX., two grandchildren, Daniel and Allyson Godfrey, one great-grandson, Jeremiah McFail, three nieces, Jennifer Mendenhall, Dana Mendenhall and Nicole Quillens, her Spiritual grandchildren, her church family and a host of other relatives and friends.
