Mary Louise Cox was born on November 29, 1944 in Texas to the parentage of the late Julius and Alma Williams. She was a Baptist and accepted Christ as her savior at an early age in life. She was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized by the late Rev. B.C. Green on August 14, 1956. She was active in her Sunday School class, Pairs & Spares. She also helped out in the culinary department when needed. She was a faithful usher until her passing.

She attended Grandview Elementary School from first thru eighth grade. She went on to Dunbar High School then transferred to Macedonia High School, where she graduated in 1963. She worked at Lone Star Ammunition Plant for many years. Eventually, she worked at Globe Union for 15 years and then Sterno for 14 years, where she retired.

On June 30, 1967, she was united in marriage to her soulmate, Freddie Gene Cox, who preceded her in death on November 2, 2019. They shared 52 years of love together.

She also had five brothers, Ulysses Williams, Sr., Thomas Williams, Julius Williams, Jr., Clarence Williams and John L. Williams, who preceded her in death.

Mary leaves to cherish loving memories: her daughter, Carolyn (Gregory) Givans; stepdaughter, Tamara Conkleton; sister, Earnestine Williams of Frisco, TX; godson, Johnny Ray Forte, Jr.; goddaughter/niece, Wilma Williams Campbell; grandsons, Timothy Yarbrough, Javonte' Givans, Sy'Rone and Ja'Kari Conkleton; granddaughters, De'Nerica Yarbrough, Taylor Givans, Alexis, Lazabia, Desteni and Tryneti Conkleton; one great-granddaughter, Ivyana Isami Givans; and a host of other relatives and friends.
