Maxine Kennedy, 88, of Nash, Texas was born November 6, 1932 in Junction City, Arkansas to C.D. and Essie Godfrey. She transitioned on December 3, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. Kennedy became a member of the Leary Chapel Baptist Church in Hooks, Texas at an early age. She was once the Mission President and held many offices in the church. She was a neighborhood mother to all. She served on the City Council of Nash for 14 years, as well as a term as Mayor Pro-tem.
Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bobby Godfrey, Robert L. Godfrey and Richard Godfrey; two sisters, Margaret Sharp and Marie Banks; grandson, Gregory Kennedy; and one granddaughter, Tasha Renee Kennedy.
She leaves to mourn: her husband of 71 years, Robert Kennedy; her only son, Cedric Kennedy (Berneice); her six daughters, Diane Kennedy, Barbara Brooks (Bobby), DeLores "Pie" DeVose, Sherrilynn Jackson (Donald), Shelia Starks and Margaret Lewis; one loving brother, Tyrone Godfrey of Dallas, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Kennedy will be 2:30 - 4:30 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Haynes Mortuary. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.
