Melvin Leroy Smith was born October 23, 1955, in Texarkana, Texas to the late Johnnie M. Smith Thompson and Robert Sterling.
He departed this life on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Nell Smith, sister, Barbara Ann Weaver, aunt, Bobbie Moore, and uncle, Charles D. Smith.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: one special sister, Barbara Banks of Haughton, LA; special nephews, John W. Smith, Gary D. Smith, Lamarlo E. Smith, Rashad J. Smith, and Dennis Palmer; three aunts, Gwendolyn Smith of Bastrop, LA, Joyce Kelly of Ashdown, AR, and Ada Simpkins of Stockton, CA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
