Naomi Shields Henderson was born August 24, 1954 to Bernice Forte Shields and Will Shields in New Boston, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of New Boston, Texas. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Prosperity Baptist Church as a young woman. Naomi graduated from New Boston High School in 1972 and obtained her nurse's aide certification from Texarkana College. She started her professional career at St. Michael's Hospital where she worked for a number of years. On May 5, 1973, Naomi married the love of her life John Keith Henderson. They were blessed with three beautiful children, Monica, Teresa and John Jr.

Naomi had an unwavering love for family and friends. She had a caring heart, because she liked helping and spending time with others. After several years of being a home health care worker, Naomi took on the task of being a childcare provider from her home. In her spare time, her hobbies included going to garage sales, sewing, quilting and crocheting. During the holidays, she liked to cook, bake and enjoyed making Christmas gift bags for her kids, nieces and nephews. She transitioned to eternal life on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Christus St. Michael Hospital.

She is preceded in death by both parents and brothers: Erwin Shields and Willie "Luke" Shields. Naomi leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband, John Henderson Sr.; two daughters, Monica Henderson Hill (Gregory) and Teresa Henderson both of New Boston, TX; one son John Henderson Jr. (Monica) of Port Arthur, TX; two grandchildren Alexandra and Aaron Hill of New Boston, TX; brothers Samuel Forte of Washington DC and Gregory Shields of Dallas, TX; sister Willie Hazel Shields of New Boston, TX and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
