Our beloved Opal Virginia Moore passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on March 24, 1931, in Dalby Springs, TX, to Harry and Veola Jones Davis, Opal brought love and joy to all who knew her.

Raised in the Garland Community of DeKalb, TX, Opal was the fifth of eight children. There, she built a foundation of strong faith and deep devotion to family. A proud graduate of Garland High School's class of 1950, she always carried a deep appreciation for education and community.

Opal united in holy matrimony to the late Willis Bernell "Buddy" Moore in 1952. Together, they built a loving home raising six children, Frank, Stanley, Shirley, Donald, Michael, and Larry. Their nearly 50-year marriage was a testament to their devotion until Buddy's passing in 2001.

A woman of unwavering faith, Opal accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as treasurer of Missions and on the Usher Board. She was deeply committed to serving her community, dedicating her time to DeKalb Hope, volunteering at the nursing home and visiting with sick and shut-in church members.

Opal built a fulfilling career, first spending eight years as an explosives operator at Lone Star before dedicating sixteen years as an assembly and production worker at Red River Army Depot, retiring in 1994.

After retiring, Opal spent her later years in Garland, TX, close to her sons and grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. While in Garland, she regularly attended Shiloh Church until her health declined.

Opal's gentle spirit, generosity, and warmth left an unforgettable mark on everyone she encountered. A natural caretaker, she always put others first, and her home was a welcoming place where family and friends always felt loved.

Opal leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Frank B. Moore, Michael L. Moore, Larry B. (Vicki) Moore, and Norvell Moore of Dallas, TX; her sister, Teola Burton of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, Lynetta (Lionel) Kidd, Ericka Moore Baker, Darris Moore, Brittany (Sadie) Moore, McKenzie (Adam) Mich, Marika Henderson, and Kamisha Moore; twelve great-grandchildren, Brayana Moore, Darrein Moore, Katelyn Moore, Landon Kidd, AJ Baker, Evann Baker, Kayceun Moore, Damarius Henderson, Maliaya Mich, Piper Mich, Sadoria McClain, and Chosyn Pendergraph; daughter-in-law, Loretta Davis; special friends, Ann Akins, Mary Jones, Shirley Owens, Annie Sharp, and Maurine White; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Veola Davis; her husband, Willis B. Moore; her children, Stanley Moore, Shirley Moore, Donald Moore, and Marilyn Moore; and her siblings, Morris Davis, Harvey Davis, Edward Davis, Thelma Betts, Janie Davis, and Erma Brown.

Opal will forever be remembered for her selflessness, resilience, and unwavering love. Though we grieve her passing, we find peace and comfort knowing she lived a life filled with faith, family, and joy. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
