Rosevelt Watson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 7, 1936, to the late Rev. Joe Sims and Virginia Lee Moss. He departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He was the last surviving child of 8 children. He was affectionately known as "Rosey", "Uncle Mann", "Heavy", and "Bear". Rosevelt graduated from Central High School in Jefferson, Texas in 1955. He joined the United States Navy immediately after graduation.

He faithfully served his country while stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco, California from 1955 to 1958. After serving his country, Rosevelt worked as a bus driver and production worker. He retired from International Paper Company in 1998 after 21 years of dedicated service.

Rosevelt was the father of R. Machelle Watson, the apple of his eye. As a loving father, he stepped in to assist in the upbringing of Johnnie Warren, Shirley Houff, and Eddie Warren (deceased).

Rosevelt Watson married Erma Jean Rose-Jones in 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a courtship filled with love, respect, and companionship. Upon his marriage to Erma Jean, she would bring into this union, Shantina (Anthony) Mitchell, Erica (Tyrone) Smith, Rosalyn Jones, KaSandra Jones, and LaSondra Jones, which he cared deeply as his very own.

An avid blues and jazz music lover, Rosey spent his time playing bass guitar, drums, and other musical instruments for his own enjoyment. He never met a stranger and was comfortable around all people. He had a great sense of humor and recently discovered a new found love for buttermilk and cornbread.

Rosevelt leaves grandchildren and a host of family, friends and loved ones to carry on his memories, legacy, and joy.
