Rosie Lee Owens Blackwell, age 94, of Texarkana, TX, gained her wings on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born to the late Troy & Eudora Owens on July 24, 1925, in Little Rock, AR. Mrs. Rosie attended public school in Little Rock, AR, and later married R.C. Blackwell and moved to Texarkana, TX.
She was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church and she retired from Mid-Continent Truck Stop.
She was preceded in death by her husband R.C. Blackwell, son Kennedy Jackson, daughter Janice Cannon, two great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five sons William Blackwell, Sr, and Larry Blackwell of Texarkana, TX, Louis (Emma) Blackwell, Curtis (Brenda) Blackwell, and Calvin (Sighle) Blackwell of Texarkana, AR; three daughters Carolyn (John) Riley of Old Boston, TX, Linda (Dennis) Lee of Cleburne, TX, and Marilyn Diane Blackwell of Texarkana, TX; three brothers Charles Dorhan of Los Angeles, CA, Chester (Norman) Dorhan of Jacksonville, AR, and Henry (Amanda) Gentry of Ashdown, AR; two sisters-in-law Ruth Blackwell and Letha Blackwell of Texarkana, TX; 26 grandchildren Tyrone Riley, Anthony Riley, John Riley, Jr, Jacqueline Riley, Torrey Riley, Roshanda Blackwell, William Blackwell Jr, Marcus Blackwell, Audra Blackwell, Teresa Blackwell-Hurd, Nicole Blackwell, Edward Blackwell, Jared Lee, Kevin Lee, Kanisha Blackwell, Curtis Blackwell Jr, Rachard Blackwell, Emily Blackwell, Curtisa Blackwell, Calvin Blackwell Jr, Raffinee Blackwell, Camron Blackwell, Sydnee Blackwell, John'Bril Foster, Dewon Bead, and Kennedy Jackson; 38 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Rosie Blackwell will be at 11am, Saturday, September 14th at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Mandeville, AR, with Rev. Terry Williams (Eulogist) and Pastor Christopher Collins, Sr, (Officiating), followed by interment at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of Haynes Mortuary.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7pm at Haynes Mortuary.
