Rosie Mae
Oliver
Jan 1, 1941 — Oct 5, 2021
Queen City
Rosie Mae Oliver was born in Queen City, Texas to the late Prentice and Josephine Oliver. She received her formal education in Queen City, TX graduating from Thornton High in 1960. She departed her life on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in Rockwall, Texas after an ongoing battle with multiple medical issues. She spent her last few months at the home of her daughter in Garland, Texas.
Rosie was affectionately known by family and close friends as ''Sister" or "Sista." She shared her love of cooking with everyone she met. She prepared meals during the holidays for those she affectionately referred to as the "sick and the elderly." Her love for cooking, canning, and baking was shared by all who knew her.
It would be wrong to say that Rosie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick
she was, she was always determined to get better and to walk again. When anyone else would have been broken, Rosie stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost the battle, rather, she just knew when it was time to trade in this earthly body for her heavenly one.
Rosie rededicated her life to the Lord under the leadership of Pastor and Sister L. W. Draggon of Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served and remained until her passing.
Rosie is preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and a niece. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley D. Oliver and Lesa Oliver-Jamison, and Grandson, Lawrence Laman Neloms, Brother: Willie J. Oliver (Wife: Mattie) and Sister Lillie Mae Howard (Husband: William); and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
