Elder Sidney Owens Jr. was born June 25, 1955, in Texarkana, Texas. He was the fifth of five born to the parentage of Sidney Owens Sr. and Viola Dickerson Owens.
Sidney was a God fearing, hard working, child of God. He loved his wife and showed a great example of what the scripture commands, love your wife like Christ loves the church.
Sidney was employed with International Paper, from which he retired. He was also a former employee of Red River Army Depot, drove diesel trucks, and was a repairman. He was great with his hands and a jack of all trades.
Elder Sidney Owens Jr. departed this earthly life on January 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Williams, Ardella Jiles, and Dorothy Phillips.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Herise Solomon Owens of Texarkana, AR; children, Sidney Owens III (Sandra), Alicia Solomon, Lanett Hopkins (Timothy Jr.), Leoda Solomon, Tasha Solomon, and MaKeba Owens; sister, Mars Brown Kimmons; aunt, Eleanor Dickerson; 17grandchildren whom he loved dearly; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Sidney was one of the greatest cooks, mechanics, Sunday School Teachers, Elders, and the best husband! He was strong, handsome, caring, and kind. He believed in helping others and serving God.
