Vera Hooks was born on October 30, 1958, to the late Earnest and Lessie Mae Easter in Foreman,
Arkansas. Vera touched many hearts throughout her remarkable life.
She was immersed in the Christian community at an early age. She joined the St Matthews Baptist
Church in Foreman, AR., where she remained a faithful servant as Deaconess, choir member and Youth
leader. Vera was a full and faithful member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rising Sun Chapter No. 371 in
Ashdown, AR.
She graduated from Foreman High School in 1978. Vera had a heart for service. Upon graduation, she
became employed was with Pilgrim's Pride. From there, she made a career move into the healthcare
field, then legal services where she started her own business with, "The Onxy Group" and later became
employed with Maud ISD, where she retired. She married her best friend, Booker T. Hooks, Sr. on
January 1, 1986.
Vera Hooks departed this life on Monday, November 28 th , 2022. She was proceeded in death by her
parents, Earnest and Lessie; one grandson, Kenyon, and two sisters, Johnnie Mae and Olean.
Vera was blessed with a large and loving family; her God-given warmth for family and friends was
contagious. She is survived by her husband, Booker Hooks of New Boston, Texas; two daughters,
LaTarsha Rowe (George) of Douglasville, Texas and Darnisha Lomax of Texarkana, Texas; three sons, Eric
Easter (Barbie) of Cleveland, Ohio, Joey Jackson (Amber) of Texarkana, Texas and Booker Hooks, Jr. (BJ)
of Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Versie Haywood (Greg) of New Boston, Texas and Patricia White (James) of
Texarkana, Texas; two brothers Bobby Easter (Gale) of Ashdown, Arkansas and Earl Easter (Karla) of
Ashdown, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her
memory, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Vera was proceeded in death by her parents, one grandson, Kenyon, and two sisters, Johnnie Mae and
Olean.
