Willie Stuman “Dub” Taylor, Jr.

Jan. 29, 1935 – Aug. 16, 2026

A loving, dedicated man of God, W.S. (Dub) Taylor has gone on, in his own words, “to meet my King” after many years of serving Christ faithfully.  He has been a godly example to his family and an influence and mentor to countless others; as he served as both missionary and pastor to several congregations throughout his years in ministry.

Born in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, the eldest of 10 children to W.S., Sr. and Ola Mae (Witcher), the family relocated to the area around Henderson, Texas when Dub was 10. After accepting Christ as his Savior, at age 12 he was baptized in Shaw’s Creek by G.D. Walters near Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk County, Texas, as was W.S., Sr. After serving in the US Army in post-WWII Germany, he returned to Texas and married Billie Faye McCulley of Ada, OK. Surrendering to full-time gospel ministry in 1959, he graduated from Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson, Texas. Cyndee and Terry were born during this time and the family moved to several areas of Texas as Dub, along with Billie’s faithful support, pastored and developed new churches across the state. He also served in various capacities for the American Baptist Association and other area and local associations.

In later years, Dub and Billie traveled for pleasure and continued serving churches in various roles, eventually residing in Texarkana, Arkansas where they formed many close friendships and continued ministering in various roles in Northern Hills Baptist Church. Dub’s love for Christ, His church, and the way his life touched and influenced others were witnessed by many. He was loved by all who knew him and who wait eagerly to see him again upon our Lord’s return.

Married to Billie McCulley May 30th, 1959

Children: Cyndee Taylor and Terry Taylor

5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Surviving siblings: Patricia Kearby, Barbara Vinson, Matalyn Gardner, Albert Taylor and Lavelle Carlson.

Preceded by siblings: Russell “Gay” Taylor, Burl “Dee” Taylor, Iris Hymel and one infant sibling.

A visitation reception will follow the evening worship service at Northern Hills Baptist Church on August 23, 2026. A memorial and interment will be held at a later date for family and friends in the Henderson, Texas area.
