Obituary

Mrs. Wilma Jean Rowden, 98, of New Boston, TX, entered into eternity on Friday, April 8, 2022, at a local hospice facility. Wilma G. Rowden was born June 30, 1923. Wilma was the oldest child of the late Viola Jordan-Crossland and Manuel Crossland. She was a domestic worker and a caretaker outside of her home for many years. She was employed by Tex Inn of New Boston, Claire Duffer and many others.

Wilma married Lamar Rowden on March 7, 1949. Wilma accepted Christ at an early age. She
attended Burns Church of Christ in Hooks, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, a
daughter – Ola Faye Thompson, four brothers – Lewis Crossland, Morris Crossland, Bob Earl
Crossland and Sam Crossland; two sisters - Georgia Mae Cooper and Betty Jean Johnson.
Survivors include three sons – Bobby Rowden (Charlesetta), Darrell Rowden (Angela) and Billy
Jo Rowden (Sharon); two daughters – Jackie Barber (James) and Janice Hooks (Utissue); three
sisters - Annie Pearl Hooks, Mattie Joe Crossland and Dorothy Crossland; a host of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and great great great-
grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
