Yolanda Faye Harlston was the fourth born to David and Dorothy Harlston on September 24, 1956 in Texarkana, Texas.

She united with Mt. Zion First Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by Pastor Samuel Harvey. She remained a faithful and dedicated member until her transition.

She attended Grandview Elementary School and Liberty-Eylau Senior High School where she was a member of the Pep Squad. In 1974, she graduated from Liberty-Eylau and attended Texarkana Community College.

In 1978 she received her Bachelor's of Arts Degree for a dual major in Psychology and Sociology at East Texas State University—Texarkana.

In her teen years, Yolanda began her employment career with her father at Texarkana Country Club. She later began working at Sears Service Center in Auditing and, by moving up the ranks, she became the first African-American to become a Store Service Manager in Texarkana. She retired in 2014, then worked as Operations Manager at Sears Department Store in Central Mall, until the store closing in September 2017, in which she retired again. Her last position held was with Lillie's Flowers as a part-time office manager.

On August 7, 1982, she married the love of her life, Timothy Nard Jr., and to this union two sons-in-love, Kenyon (deceased) and Bonderick Nard, completed her family.

As a devout member of Mt. Zion First, she served as Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director and Teacher, Financial Secretary, and Trustee Chairman.

She enjoyed decorating, party planning, and gardening. Her epitaph was to love, honor, and serve God first, live life and give help to others. She was also known for her creativity, leadership, and dedication regardless of the challenge.

Yolanda's life candle was extinguished December 10, 2022. Her spirit will remain vibrant though her family: her faithful and devoted husband, Timothy Nard Jr.; one son-in-love, Bonderick Nard (Charanda) of Texarkana, TX; two sisters, Davi Dancy and Sharon Clipper of Texarkana, TX; two brothers, David L. Harlston Jr. and Harold V. Harlston of Texarkana, TX; two nephews, David L. Harlston III of Dallas, TX; one great-nephew, Sean David Harlston of Los Angeles, CA; a very special sister/friend, Pastor Anretha Walker of Ogden, AR; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
