The Late Pauline Haynes
Former Chairman/Owner - 11/19/1924 - 08/25/2021
Mrs. Haynes was born in Paris, Texas, to the late Rev. and Mrs. J.H. (Beatrice Boyd) Harris. She grew up in Clarksville, Texas, graduating from Cheatham High School and continuing on to Bishop College, where she received her B.A. degree. After graduating from college, she became a teacher and received experiences in both elementary and secondary education. Her teaching career spans some thirty years, and her church music career extends some 60-plus years. In 1962, she married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas Eugene Haynes, and moved to Texarkana, Texas. Through this marriage, she was blessed to rear three beautiful children: Lillian, Andrea Jeanette, and Thomas Haynes III, whom she dearly loves. She is a member of New Hope Baptist Church, serving for over 30 years as Minister of Music and also serves as Secretary of the Trustee Board. In 1970, Haynes Mortuary was founded by Thomas E. Haynes, Funeral Director and Mortician. In June of 1980, Mr. Haynes died, leaving Pauline to carry on their business.
Her accomplishments and degrees are many: she studied at East Texas State University, Texarkana, Texas; Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas; and the United Theological Seminary, Texarkana, Texas; she received a Master's Degree from East Texas A&M University of Texarkana, Texas; an Honorary Doctoral Degree of Humanities from Unitied Theological Seminary, Monroe, Louisiana; Honoree of the Year by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority; member of the Board of Texarkana Chamber of Commerce(4Years); member of Scoreboard, a subsidiary of SBA, Texarkana Chapters; services on the City of Texarkana; Texas Model Cities Education Subcommittee Board of Directors; YWCMA Board; and lifetime member of Texas State Teachers Association. Under the leadership of Dr. Haynes and an excellent staff, the business has shown tremendous growth. It now has a staff of twenty-plus employees; four licensed funeral directors; three morticians; and one intern. It is with pride and a grateful heart that she thanks God for being a part of Texarkana, "A City Twice as Nice", and in no way forgets the Macedonia community and Bowie County.

Martha Stewart
Administrative Assistant/Family Care Specialist
Martha Stewart is a lifelong resident of Texarkana, Texas. She is a graduate of Texas Senior High School as Class of 1988, and attended Texarkana College, with Studies of Social Work.
Martha began employment in 1988 with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and retired after 30 years of dedicated work as a Case Manager in the Aged and Disabled Department. She joined the team with Haynes Mortuary Inc. in 2009 as a Family Care Specialist
and continues to serve. Martha has other duties within Haynes, working as part of the Dressing Team, Scheduler for Funeral Services, and is trained to assist in other positions as needed. She enjoys greeting all of the families and friends that come in by providing comfort to
them. Martha is currently employed with Red River Employees Federal Credit Union in the Mortgage Department as a Mortgage Closer.
Martha is the youngest of four children to the parentage of Carolyn Faye Young. She has two loving children (Camille and Kirkland) who are the love of her life.

David Keener
Family Care Specialist
David J. Keener was born February 15th, 1982, to Paul and Ramona Keener. He is the youngest of three boys. Pastor Keener accepted his call into ministry 24 years ago. His father, the late Reverend Paul Keener served as his Pastor, mentor and model in ministry.
Pastor Keener has served as Senior Pastor since 2004. He currently serves as Senior Pastor of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Jefferson, TX. Pastor Keener holds a Bachelors of Christian Education and a Masters of Ministry Degree from East Texas Theological Seminary. He also holds a Masters of Arts in Church Administration from Texas Seminary Christian University.
David has been serving families with Haynes since February 2023.
David is the father to a beautiful 10 year old daughter, Payton, who is the apple of his eye.

Berniece Kennedy

Berniece Kennedy began her career in the funeral industry at Haynes Mortuary five years ago as a Family Care Specialist. Berniece was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas. She is the owner of several small businesses: Kennedy’s Kare, assisting and helping elderly individuals with daily needs; Short Cuts Hair Salon; and UmmUmmm Good Catering.
Berniece is an active member of Leary Chapel Baptist Church, where she is faithfully serving in the choir, on the usher board, and as a finance clerk. She also attends First Baptist Church Sunday School services. She has been married to her husband, Cedric Kennedy, for 35 years. They have been blessed to have 2 sons, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren to spoil.
Berniece is a dedicated servant and enjoys serving her community and being there for family and friends in their time of needs. In her free time, Burnie enjoys browsing thrift shops, flea markets, entertaining family and friends and most of all cheering for HER Dallas Cowboys.
